This is a time of year highlights a tension I deeply feel in my body and life:
The contrast between how humans have lived for most of history and how we live now.
The human calendar used to be connected to the seasons and the lunar cycle. Winter was understood as a time for restoration–a season of more sleep, eating preserved foods, and preparing seeds for spring.
Yet winter has now become a season of peak travel, endless social gatherings, and the pressure to start new projects.
So if you feel this discrepancy too, how do we reconcile it? How do we function in the modern world while honoring what our bodies know to be true?
That’s going to look different for everyone, but here are some ideas:
❄️ Extend your meditation practice by just a few minutes.
❄️ Choose a low-key and alcohol-free New Years Eve celebration.
❄️ Go to bed earlier a few nights a week.
❄️ Choose one weekend where you don’t make social plans.
❄️ Spend January feeling into your goals for the new year, instead of rushing into action.
How will you embrace the rhythm of winter? I’d love to hear your thoughts in my Facebook group, Unblock Your Chakras!
